This retreat will be held online only.

In order to live comfortably and enjoy life, you need to feel comfort with the inevitability of death. Phowa, the meditation practice for transferring consciousness to the enlightened state at the time of death, is the key to living joyfully and dying fearlessly.

If you are free from fear, concern, and worry about death, you enjoy life more. Phowa meditation allows us to have a beautiful journey at the time of death and to live life joyfully and free from worry about death. In this way, Phowa helps us both at the time of death and during our lives. This has been the experience of many past meditation practitioners.

Each year, Orgyen Chowang Rinpoche holds an Annual Phowa Meditation program as a way to help students to learn about and refresh their familiarity with this practice.

In this Annual Phowa Daylong Online Meditation Retreat, Orgyen Chowang Rinpoche will teach on these practices for transferring consciousness to the enlightened state at the time of death and will provide guidance in this meditation practice based on a practice manual from the Longchen Nyingtik tradition that Rinpoche has translated into English.

This retreat is open to anyone interested in these types of meditation practices that include visualization and mantra recitation. The practices and teachings of this retreat will particularly resonate with those who have practiced Phowa, Ngondro, or other Vajrayana practices.

The Annual Phowa Daylong Meditation Retreat will be held Online on January 24th and will include live streamed video and access to on-demand recordings.

The PDF of the practice text will be provided to all participants prior to the start of the retreat. We will send more information on the practice text when it becomes available.
